Quick Answers

Common Questions About UK Mobile

Plain English answers about Three, O2, EE, Tesco, and UK Ofcom rights.

Full Help Centre →
Which UK network has the best 5G in 2026?
+
EE is independently rated the UK's best — umlaut Best in Test 2026 with a record 920/1000 (11 consecutive years), and 77.4% 5G availability (Opensignal January 2026, highest of any UK network). O2 won Uswitch Best Coverage 2026 and extended UK landmass coverage to 95% via SpaceX Starlink. Three had the fastest peak speeds but new plans are speed-capped at 100 Mbps from April 2026. Always check the official coverage checker at your specific postcode.
How do I switch UK network and keep my number?
+
Text PAC to 65075. You receive a free 9-character PAC code within 60 seconds. Give it to your new network when signing up. Your number transfers within one working day. Old contract auto-cancelled. Free, legally guaranteed under Ofcom rules — cannot be refused or delayed.
Does Three have a speed cap on new plans?
+
Yes — from 19 April 2026. New Three Pay Monthly standard plans are capped at 100 Mbps. New PAYG plans capped at 25 Mbps. A Full Speed Add-on at £4/month removes the cap. Existing in-contract customers are NOT affected until they re-contract. EE and O2 unlimited plans have no speed caps.
Do I get free EU roaming on UK plans in 2026?
+
O2 is the only major UK MNO not to reintroduce EU roaming charges — 49 destinations free on all standard plans. Three Complete plans cover 163 countries via Go Roam. EE All Rounder+ includes EU free; EE Essentials charges £2.29/day. Tesco Mobile covers 48 destinations (Home From Home). Always verify your specific plan before travelling.
